Hi Shirley! I have been on your website frequently over that past few weeks.
Pet Super Store is paying special tribute to websites who display a humanitarian effort towards ethical treatment of animals
and in particular, breed with care and consideration. Love your site, it is so fun with all of the creative and precious puppy
pics! It is clear that you ensure that every pup goes to a loving, well equipped home. Your facility is gorgeous (I'd love
to know more about the passion flower!) and your site has been selected as an award winner of our 2010 Pet Dedication Website
award. Not only do you provide a remarkable foundation for the pups, but you also show a genuine love and sincere appreciation
for the beauty of all dogs.
The spring time this 2010 is vibrant with vivid |
|
color! The rain has laid a foundation for some brillant wild flowers and we are enjoying it! |
During the spring and summer, we have lots of |
|
lovely butterflies! This picture was taken in September! |
Our Mountain Laurels smell like grape Kool-ade! |

We are located near the little town of Gruene, TX. |

How much will my puppy weigh as an adult??????
About 90% of our customers ask us what their selected puppy will weigh as an adult Chihuahua. Please,
understand that we will never guarantee the adult weight of your puppy. We can only plug in the age and weight of
your puppy while he/she is here in our home to a Chihuahua Puppy Weight Chart. These charts do not even claim accuracy
until after the puppy is weaned. I believe the charts are accurate only a small percentage of the time, however that
is all we have to go by. We have seen large dogs produce tiny dogs and we have seen tiny dogs produce large dogs.
Your puppy will have drawn from 7 generations of genes when it comes into this world. We have seen tiny puppies, go
through unexpected growth spurts only to become larger adults. We have seen fat, chubby, larger puppies, skip going
through a regular growth spurt only to be smaller adult dogs. Therefore, because integrity is very important to us,
we will NOT guarantee the adult weight of your puppy. We will only tell you what the charts are stating and then
we will also tell you that the charts are often wrong. If you decide that the adult weight of your new Chihuahua puppy
is highly significant to you and that you will love him/her less if they become larger than expected or if they become smaller
than you expected, then I am not the breeder for you. I would like to know that my puppies go to homes where they will
be loved no matter what size they are as adults. I try very hard to be completely honest with each customer about the
puppy they choose. But I only have so much control over things.... the rest is beyond my capabilities. With all
this said, remember that even a "Large" Chihuahua is still smaller than the majority of the canine population.
All are smart, lovable, loyal, exquisite companions with incredible life spans and magical personalities! But then I
guess I am partial....smile.
I love this photo! Here is our little daughter |

when she was younger and our fawn and chickens! |
My husband blessed me with a pond and waterfall |

Chihuahuas running around! We live on 1.7 acres in the hill country near New Braunfels, TX! |
We would like to introduce you to our family business. We live on 1.7 acres of wooded, hill
country! We no longer have chickens or rabbits for 4-H, but we enjoy posting pictures of them when they were apart
of our lives. Although, we no longer have chickens or rabbits, we still have our beloved collection of Chihuahuas! Our
kennels are located on the side of our back yard amidst oaks, mountain laurels, antique roses, and an herb garden. We
built all our barnwood kennels out of old cedar fence posts. Each has a tin roof with a concrete foundation and
lots of exercise room. Our dogs are in and out of the house, but not afraid to sit in the sunshine and bask in
the lovely outdoors. My grandmother use to comment on the medicinal qualities of the great outdoors and when you see
these Chi's, who get the best of both worlds; indoors and outdoors, you will agree with her, especially here in Texas!
We have a herb garden beside the kennels with antique roses climbing a cedar trellis. In the spring the ground
is covered with pink rose petals and butterflies flitter about. We keep all out puppies indoors from the time of birth
until you take them home with you! Weather permiting, they have "playtime" daily in the fresh air and sunshine and then
back into the house with family! The puppies are handled from birth and the mama is fed like a queen. We have
only been in business since 2004, but have grown to love meeting customers and raising litters. We have T-cups,
but we also have Toy and Standard sizes. Whatever their size, they have the capasity to give you years of love and affection
and loyalty.
Here is our lovely Queen's Crown vine growing over |

our kennels gates! It is still young, but is growing and blooming up a storm! |
When you get to your wit's end, you'll find God lives there.

Our Business Philosophy
We love our animals and know that you will, too. Therefore, we socialize the puppies from the moment that they are
born. We expose them to various family members of various ages. We introduce them to other family dogs and cats
and a chicken, here and there. We talk to them, hold them, play with them. They leave our home to your's healthy
and happy or not at all. We have a limited health guarantee and honor it. Our puppies are registered
and have their first shots and worming. All of our puppies are vet checked before they leave our home.
The puppies that are very small, need to stay in our home over the typical 8 week period, so that when they leave us, we know
that they will be able to handle the stress of re-location. When we have T-cups for sale, we will educate you on hypoglycemia
before they go home with you. T-cups are more fragile than their larger litter mates and need more TLC. You are
welcome to view the parents and the kennels. If you have any questions, feel free to call and we will try to answer
your questions and if we can direct you to any other helpful resources, we will do so. Integrity is important to us
and we want our puppies to find good, nuturing homes.

Character is the total of thousands of small
daily strivings to live up to the best that is in us.

Hill Country Chihuahuas is a Family Owned and Family Operated Buisness!
The beginning of February 2010, our little granddaughter came into this world! She had no idea how
many people were apart of her growing fan club. God blessed the festive event and we welcomed Xia into the family with
much love and laughter!
New life is always a cause for celebration and so enjoy with us, these few pictures that capture how happy
and thankful we are for Xia's arrival!
I am a "Nana" and this is my beloved baby Xia! |

Although my hubby is not in this picture and we are missing 3 kids, this is a group shot. |
I could not do this wonderful job without the love |
|
and support and help of my hubby! Thank you, Jeff! |
Being a big family has many advantages! We love children, we love animals and we all work together to make our family
business a success. We all build and maintain the kennels. We all feed and care for the dogs. We all play
with the puppies and learn their individual temperaments. No, it is not as easy as this write up makes it sound.
Besides being costly at times, sad and tearful at times and plain hard work at times, we are all commited to making it not
only a successful business, but also a way in which we can enrich someone's life by the purchase of a life-long little, furry
friend. Chihuahuas can live a long time. We want to make sure that the puppy you buy from us, will give you hours,
months, years of love, laughter and companionship. We believe that every detail is important.
Here are two of our 6 custom kennels! They are built to look like barnwood, prairie homes.
My sons and husband take great pride in building such delightful cottages for our Chi's! In Feb. the Mountain Laurels
in the kennel area will start blooming and make the entire area smell like grape koolade! Antique roses grow nearby
as well as an "in progress" herb garden! All our kennels have concrete yards as of summer 2007 and a balance of shade
and sunshine. All the cottages have porches and running water goes to each kennel. Our dogs have yard time where
they can run and play on our 1.7 acres of land! They play with our children, our neighbor children, a cat or two and
occasionally a hen or rooster!
Here was our first barnwood and rock kennel. |
|
We joke and say it will someday be our retirement home! |
